Can’t wait to play it again!

First, love it when a game has a nice presentation and non-generic artwork that is memorable. The premise of it is hilarious and mischievous with messy medieval alchemy and the ability of give your opponent/s interesting afflictions. We considered the original version of the game, Side Effects, but it seemed a bit too realistic in terms of diseases and conditions, at least Hex Effects keeps it lighthearted in comparison.Reading instructions and setup was pretty quick, first game to learn the mechanics took about 30min for two of us, subsequent games took longer since we were trying to figure out each other’s strategy - was that round going to be focused on self-healing, or focused on triggering side effects? It worked great for the two of us, but I’m curious to see how it unfolds when there’s more players. This is definitely a game I look forward to playing for years to come! :-)

Good game, but needs some improvement

We really enjoy this game, but feel the card numbers are imbalanced and can cause a never ending game. The time of 10-30 minutes has been rarely true for us. This game continued for 2+ hours once. I think the card ratios of diseases to remedies need adjusted.

Well made, fun game, easy to learn

Fun to play, easy to learn, good quality craftsmanship. 9/10 for me. It did have one card type included that wasn't mentioned on the rules but I found out more information on it online so its not really an issue.

Fast favorite!

This became a family favorite the very first game, the illustrations are beautiful, plays fast and easy. We did receive two Deus Hex Machina cards, which were a Kickstarter special and were not included in the box instructions. We were able to find their description online and they add an excellent element to the game!

Awesome game

This game is a lot of fun and easy to learn! My copy had two dues hex machina cards in it that were exclusive to Kickstarter. Had to look up how to use them since they weren't in the directions. During my search of the rules for the card, Pillbox games released a statement that the cards rule was in the instructions but not included in the game lol. I just found that funny lol. The card quality is great! Will definitely be looking to get their other game.

Fun and great quality!

A simple, yet fun game that is good for friends and family. It's a great filler game or also for when you don't have a lot of time and just need to scratch that gaming itch! The production value of the box and cards is excellent. The cards feel and look like they have a linen finish.

Very fun game!

Very fun and simple game. We played Side Effects and thought this was a fun spin on that game. The only downside is that the developer released a B&N exclusive with bonus cards you can’t get otherwise. I’m not gonna rebuy the game just for that but it makes this version seem less than…

Fantastic game

Simple game but fun! We play it at least once every game night, weekly. Wish there were an expansion for it. Great quality construction, easy instructions, nice artwork and theme.

This is a really fun game that is quick to learn.

Love, love, love this game!!! Just be warned that you may hear from school teachers when your kids start talking about the diseases transmitted at school.

Buy it

This game is super quick, easy to learn and astronomically fun with friends, who have a good sense of humor. I love the design and the card material. If you really wanted too, you can mix Hex effects and side effects together to make a fun combination.

Was worth it

I have a book that says info about a card that isn't in the game. I did a return because of it and had to ask the company when I had the problem with the replacement as well. It plays a lot like Side effects by the same company. Was a lot of fun to play.

Great theme and art but if you wanna game like this, I would do Side Effects.

There is a card mentioned in the instructions that doesn’t exist in the game. (It was a kickstarter bonus) A great game, but I think Side Effects is just that little bit better.

Take my money

This game is simple to learn, and is so much fun to play. I bought it for me and my boyfriend to play while camping, and we loved it. The friends that joined us loved it just as much and have ordered their own set. I’m now a fan of this brand and will be purchasing all current, and future, games they produce.

Missing cards

Seems like a really good game with high quality cards but it is missing the two Deus Hex Machina cards. Everything else is there as far as I can tell. I found a card list and counted them twice. There are no extra cards of other kinds. The game will be playable without them so it won't be worth returning but it'll always bug me that the game isn't complete.Edit- Turns out it's not missing a card just a misprint in the manual. Very quick response time from pillbox.

Note Regarding the Instruction Manual

Love the game, but felt it was important to point out something to potential buyers. The instruction manual mentions a card called "Deus Hex Machina" (which is supposed to allow you to place a hex on another player without them needing to meet the requirements). This card was only included in the Kickstarter edition of the game and is *not* present in the current retail version. The developers of the game made the necessary adjustments to the box (the correct card count of 94 is listed there), but it didn't get removed from the booklet. It doesn't impact gameplay, other than describing an effect no one can trigger, so rest assured you have the complete intended experience in the package.
